Little Man Cave

I'm going to be honest with you, I have secretly been pinning things to a private board titled "Baby P's Nursery" for a really long time. Probably since around the 1 year mark of Mike and I being married. I was so anxious to be a Mom, that I couldn't help but dream about what his or her room would look like. Mike and I decided to find out the sex of the baby (even though I didn't want to, you can read about that here), so it made my pin boards a little easier to become a reality.

Mike and I met camping (you can read about that meet cute story here), so when we found out we were having a little man, I knew I wanted to pay homage to that. Because we met in the woods, I knew that making it a woodsy theme would always remind me of where it all started, so now each time I walk in the nursery, I briefly think that the reason this precious little man is here is all because two people met under pine trees and a star filled sky. That always makes me smile.

I took bits and pieces of things I found on Pinterest and tried to make it a reality, and let me tell you, Hobby Lobby and ETSY make it real easy for a girl to pick and choose what she wants! So take a look below at Miles' Little Man Cave! Enjoy!

His nursery is my favorite room in the house. Every time when I walk in there to get him from a nap, or in the middle of the night, or when we're reading books in his rocking chair, I feel so incredibly blessed that he's my son. He's just the biggest gift I've ever been given, and being able to spend so much time in his nursery is a constant reminder of that.

MILEStones Month 3

How are we already at the Month 3 mark? I just can't believe it! Time is just flying by, and I know that it will continue to go quicker and quicker, so I am doing my best to soak up as many moments with my baby while he is still a baby!

I feel like we are finally starting to get into a groove. I am really able to tell what he wants most of the time, which is so weird to me! People always said that you would know their different cries, be able to tell what they need most of the time, and I always questioned how?They can't verbalize to you what they want and need, that seems impossible to know what they are trying to say. But for the most part, I'm able to differentiate his cries and moods, which has been super cool for me :)

The bummer this month is we think he is starting to teethe, poor guy! He is starting to drool more often and anything and everything is going in his mouth. It is the most frustrating feeling knowing there isn't much I can do to help his pain! But he has been a trooper and has been fighting through it. We also had our first visit to the Emergency Room this month. Due to his enlarged umbilical cord that they were worried about in our 2nd trimester (you can read about that here), he had a lot of extra tissue on top of his belly button, so we have been doing weekly treatments of silver nitrate to shrink it. One day I realized that it was spreading all over his belly and was really black, after a call to his pediatrician, she suggested we go into the ER since she couldn't see him that day. After a couple hours of waiting, they determined it wasn't infected, it was just stained, (which it has since gone away now), so thankfully all was ok! He was so great, didn't hardly cry and even fell asleep in his carseat towards the end, after Daddy was a stud and rocked him to sleep for 30 minutes. From his entrance into the world, through his shots, and teething, he has proven to be a pretty tough kid!

Month 3 MILEStones

I weigh 12 Pounds 11 Ounces

I stand 24 Inches Tall

I have zero teeth

I slept for 8 hours one night this month!!

I am starting to reach for Mommy's hands and arms

I had my first visit to the ER :(

MILEStones Month 2

I cannot believe it has already been TWO months! The first month flew by but the second went by equally as fast. We had a couple rough weeks where Miles would cry all.day.long. And not just newborn cry, but I could tell he was just not comfortable. So we took him in and our doctor told us he definitely had colic. She gave us some medicine to give him and thankfully that helped him a ton. After it got settled into his system we had a full week where he didn't cry at all! This mama was extremely grateful for the few extra naps I was able to get in! He is now back to crying throughout the day, just thankfully not near as much as he was before. He is starting to sleep a lot better too! We usually get about 4.5 hours the first stretch-(a handful of times we've gotten 5.5 or even 6 hours a couple of times!), and 2.5 hours after the middle of the night feeding. So for him not even being two months yet, we are grateful for that!

All in all it has been a great month! He had his first round of shots and I was so nervous for him!! There is no worse sound that his first scream of pain when they pricked him. It was awful! When I first heard that scream and he was looking up at me, I almost started to tear up, but I told myself I couldn't let him see me upset-be strong mama! But after the initial prick, Dad gave him to me and I nursed him and he calmed down. But then the doctor came back in and had to put some liquid nitrogen on his belly button because some remnants of the cord was still there and we wanted to get rid of it. So we have to do a few weekly treatments to get rid of it. So not only did he have one oral vaccines, three in the leg, but also liquid nitrogen on his belly button-he was so brave! I never knew I could be proud of such a small human! You go Miles Man!

Month Two MILEStones

I weigh 11 Pounds 14.5 Ounces

I stand 23.5 Inches Tall

I have zero teeth

I had my first real smiles this month!

I am extremely chatty first thing in the morning and right after bath time

I am starting to push gas and Mommy and Daddy can tell when it's happening

My hands have found my face and I often rub a hand down it when I'm sleepy

I fit in my SIXTH months clothes...which makes Mommy really sad...

MILEStones Month 1

I am a little late to the party, but to be honest, that first month after bringing little man home was a liiiiitle crazy, (that may be the understatement of the year), and I didn't have a chance to blog. But that first month was so life changing, I decided I have to blog about it so we can always remember it.

It is true what they say, those first few weeks are Survival Mode, and I couldn't agree more. Those first couple weeks I was averaging about 3 hours of sleep a night. For some reason that first week Miles did not want to sleep AT ALL during the night. We were so tired that we were able to take naps during the day with him, but there really is no tired like "new parent" tired. I would send my mom pictures and she waited to tell me weeks later that I had 'triple bags under my eyes,' (her words, not mine). But looking back on that first month, and despite how tired I was, it still is amazing to me how tiny he was, how snuggly he was, and how my heart was changed forever. I never knew that I was capable of loving someone as much as I love Miles. I've heard it all my life, that you never really know unconditional love until you have kids, and I now understand what they were talking about. I count my blessings every day that God was so good to us, blessing us with a pregnancy, and a healthy baby. It is something I will be grateful for every day of my life.
